INNOVATIVE MATERIALS
The history of composite materials in Speed began when it was decided to start the design and construction of an experimental car made of composite materials. For the occasion, an aeronautical engineer was hired who had worked as a consultant for the collaboration. Then it was decided to start the preliminary design of a carbon fiber reinforced plastic chassis (CFRP) for a new machine that was never officially presented.
Ten years of research
For ten years, Speed has been applying and developing carbon fiber technology to the automotive world, through an international research activity. Thanks to several partnerships, it has also opened new scenarios for composite materials, confirming itself as a highly developed car manufacturer in terms of carbon fiber research.
WORMHOLE
The collaborations established with partners from the aeronautical world have led to the "Wormhole": a high-tech project in which the project partnership with the aerospace agency has been put into practice, achieving results never before achieved in the use of carbon fiber.

To express itself with the innovation Speed for the first time extends its thinking in the field of flexible materials, and after years of research and development creates a new carbon fiber material with flexible matrix: the "Carbonskin": the only product in the world that meets the quality and homologation requirements of the VW group. This innovative material offers, in addition to weight savings, unique aesthetic features such as the naturalness of carbon fiber, the three-dimensional effect and its softness immediately perceptible to the touch when compared to any other material.
