WASTE REDUCTION
In 2020, Speed started to recover 56% of all special waste produced by the production activity thus preventing such waste material from being sent to landfill or other disposal processes. In addition, during the year, the Company has launched two circular economy projects that have allowed to give a second life to some production waste that instead of being disposed of are valued becoming new resources with benefits for the environment and society.
INVESTMENT IN HUMAN CAPITAL
The part of carbon fiber that cannot be used is delivered to a technical institute that reuses it for educational purposes, with the goal of training technicians experts in the processing of carbon fiber composite materials. Process waste is also used internally to make by-products such as gadgets for customers and guests during Speed events.
LEATHER GOODS
The leather that does not pass the quality controls and the residual material not usable are considered as raw materials and can have new life transforming into small leather goods personalized. The activity was developed thanks to an agreement with a cooperative that recovers by-products in leather and tissue using residues otherwise destined to be disposed of as waste. All accessories derived from waste materials are available exclusively in a local boutique.
